Spanky’s Roadhouse Urban Roadhouse
Alex
Spanky’s Urban Roadhouse is a small restaurant located on Evans close to the DU campus. With all the hungover college students nearby, we imagined they had to have a mouth watering breakfast burrito to revive all the students and bring them back to life to enjoy the day! The menu tells us that the burrito contains scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage, applewood bacon, cheddar, tater tots, pork green chili, and pico de gallo. Sounds promising! Let’s see how they did on the review!
Tortilla
The tortilla was pretty good put nothing spectacular. The rolling job was definitely sub par in terms of visual beauty but it held together with no spillage. It was not over powering and contributed to the flavors of the burrito.

Textures
The texture of the burrito was not very smooth but it worked for them. The flavors played around nicely and there was an even mix of the ingredients. We liked the combination of the bacon and sausage in the same burrito as well. It added to the flavor and changed things up a bit. The eggs were not very fluffy and definitely could have used some fluff to add to the texture.

Flavors
We liked this burrito. The one downside to it was how salty it was. There wasn’t really anything to balance out the overuse of sodium. Some peppers or other ingredients would have done nicely in the salt balancing roll. The tatter tots were a wonderful addition to the burrito but some more flavors in the burrito would have been a wonderful addition.

Use of Potatoes
Now, Spanky’s Urban Roadhouse changed things up a bit in this department and we thoroughly enjoyed how they did it. They used tatter tots as their potatoes. We loved this change from the norm and it definitely added to the overall experience of the burrito in a positive way. We applaud the change up from the norm and wished more people would follow this example.

Smother
One of our favorite things about this burrito is the green chili. It really adds to the burrito in a positive way and it may be one of our favorite smoothers. We were disappointed in the quantity we received with the burrito though. It felt like more of a side than a smoother. Overall though, it added to the burritos flavor in a positive way.
